QUESTION:
What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: Can a woman keep long nail for her husband if he likes them and finds it attractive?

ANSWER:
بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
A woman cannot keep long nail even for her own husband because it is a command of sharī’ah for her to cut the nails before forty days have passed; not cutting one’s nails after forty days is in contradiction to sharī’ah and prohibited.
Just as it has been stated in a Hadīth of Sahīh Muslim narrated by Sayyidunā Anas, may Allāh be pleased with him,
قَالَ أَنَسٌ «وُقِّتَ لَنَا فِي قَصِّ الشَّارِبِ، وَتَقْلِيمِ الْأَظْفَارِ، وَنَتْفِ الْإِبِطِ، وَحَلْقِ الْعَانَةِ، أَنْ لَا نَتْرُكَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً”
“He states that, ‘The stipulated time within which we should trim the moustache, cut the nails, pluck the armpit hair and shave off the pubic hair is forty days.’”
[Sahīh Muslim, pg 153, Hadīth no 258]
In addition, it is stated in Bahār-e-Sharī’at that if one does not clip the nails every Friday, then it should be clipped once every fifteen days and the maximum time frame for this is forty days; to leave them unclipped for more than the stipulated time is not allowed. The same rule applies to trimming the moustache, removing the hair under the armpit and shaving the pubic hair. To leave this unattended for more than forty days is not permitted.

The True Creator ﷻ cannot be disobeyed in order to satisfy & please one’s husband. Just as it has been stated by the Noble Prophet ﷺ ,
“لاطاعة لمخلوق في معصية الله”
“No creation will be obeyed in the disobeying of Allāh Almighty.”
