QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: Will Salāh be fulfilled while having worn false eyelashes or will it have to be repeated, because is Wudū’ fulfilled when wearing these or not?

Questioner: Shamailah from UK

ANSWER:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایة الحق والصواب

After having received your question, I researched somewhat regarding the wearing of eyelash extensions; as per my research, the liquid which is used to attach the eyelashes prevents [the flowing of] water i.e. it prevents water from reaching the actual eyelashes, whereas, it is Fard & essential to wash the hair of every single eyelash. Therefore, it is also essential to remove this liquid which is preventing water from flowing.

Just as it is stated in Bahār-e-Sharī’at that in all circumstances, it is Fard to wash the entire eyelashes thoroughly; if any dirt or any solid matter has gathered on it, then it is Fard to remove it.

[Bahār-e-Sharī’at, vol 1, part 2, pg 290]

It is stated in a like manner in Fatāwā Ridawiyyah, thus if one performs Wudū’ without having removed them, then Wudū’ will not be fulfilled. Thus, any Salāh which has been prayed with this form of Wudū’ is to be repeated.
