الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

It is makrūh tanzīhī to repeat the same sūrah in the two rak’ahs of a Fard salāh without a valid reason, and there is no issue in repeating the same sūrah in two rak’ahs of nafl salāh.

Just as Muftī Amjad ‘Alī A’zhamī, upon whom be mercy, states in Bahār-e-Sharīkat with reference of Radd al-Muhtār, that to repeat the same sūrah in both rak’ahs is makrūh tanzīhī.

[Bahār-e-Sharī’at, vol 1, part 3, pg 548]

The great Muftī further goes on to state on the next page that to repeat the same sūrah in both rak’ahs during nafl salāh, or to recite the same sūrah numerous times in each rak’ah is permissible without any form of dislike.
