QUESTION:
What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: Is it permissible to make a cake in the shape of Masjid Nabawī or the Blessed Ka’bah on the occasion of the Mawlid at the time of Rabī’ al-Awwal?
Questioner: Uthman from UK
ANSWER:
بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
It is permissible to make a cake in the shape of Masjid Nabawī or the Blessed Ka’bah on the occasion of the Mawlid in order to attain blessings; there is no problem in this, because something being impermissible requires proof, and that which the Sharī’ah has not prohibited is permissible. However, it is better that this money actually be spent on the promotion & distribution and publishing & circulating of the ‘Aqā’id of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamā’ah, so the devotees of the Messenger ﷺ increase and the love of the Master of Madīnah ﷺ becomes widespread.
