ANSWER:
Mushrooms are a type of vegetable, and thus just like with all types of vegetables, it is also permissible to consume this as well. In fact, it has been mentioned in Hadīth that this was sent down as a blessing to the Banī Isrā’īl and its water has been regarded as cure for the eyes, just as it is mentioned in Ibn Mājah,
“Sayyidunā Abū Sa’īd Khudrī and Jābir, may Allāh be pleased with them both, reported that the Noble Messenger ﷺ stated, ‘Mushrooms are a bestowed favour and its water is cure for the eyes, the ‘Ajwah date is the fruit of Paradise, and it is cure from insanity.’”
[Ibn Mājah, Hadīth no 3455. Musnad Imām Ahmad, vol 3, pg 48]
It has been stated further in another Hadīth that,
“Sayyidunā Sa’īd bin Zayd, may Allāh be pleased with him, narrates that the Noble Messenger ﷺ stated, ‘Mushrooms are a favour which Allāh Almighty sent down upon the Banī Isrā’īl, and its water is cure for the eyes.’”
[Sahīh al-Bukhārī, Hadīth no 5708. Sahīh Muslim, Hadīth no 2049]
