QUESTION:

What do the scholars and muftis of the noble Shari’ah say regarding this matter; Is it permissible to take my spouse to perform Umrah sharif instead of going on a luxury honeymoon as is common these days for newlyweds? Would it be permissible to engage in physical relations during our stay in Makkah sharif and Madinah sharif or would this be regarded as bad etiquette?

Questioner: Haroon from UK

Yes you may go to perform Umrah together, and partaking in physical relations during your stay will not be regarded as bad etiquette.

If it was bad etiquette then the Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them all) would not have done such and children would have not been born in those blessed cities. Therefore it is completely permissible.

However, having physical relations during the state of Ihram is not allowed. Once you are out of the state of Ihram all permissible actions are allowed as they would be anywhere else in the world.
