[Q-ID0515] Does the release of seminal discharge whilst watching indecent videos nullify the Fast?

QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Din and muftis of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: does seminal discharge invalidate the fast if one browses through women’s pictures on Facebook or watches indecent movies?

ANSWER:

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

It is a grave sin to stare at women intentionally or watch indecent movies, and more severe in the month of Ramadan.  There is a penalty of losing a year’s hard-earned virtues.  Despite the fact that if one does so his fast will not break even if it causes seminal discharge; as it has been declared in Al-Fatawa al-Hindiyyah as follows:

وَإِذَا نَظَرَ إلَى امْرَأَةٍ بِشَهْوَةٍ فِي وَجْهِهَا أَوْ فَرْجِهَا كَرَّرَ النَّظَرَ أَوَّلًا لَا يُفْطِرُ إذَا أَنْزَلَ كَذَا فِي فَتْحِ الْقَدِيرِ، وَكَذَا لَا يُفْطِرُ بِالْفِكْرِ إذَا أَمْنَى هَكَذَا فِي السِّرَاجِ الْوَهَّاجِ

“When one looks at a women’s face or her private parts with lust and did it repeatedly, his fast will not break if the semen discharges; as it has been mentioned in Fat’h al-Qadeer.  Similarly, the fast will not break if the semen is discharged due to having such thoughts; as it has been mentioned in Siraaj al-Wahhaaj.”

It is stated in Bahare Shari’at, “If one looks at women or her private parts but did not touch her, and the seminal discharge occurred, then whether it occurred due to looking at her repeatedly or thinking about having intercourse with her, even if it were for an extended period of time, the fast will not be invalidated due to these factors.
