QUESTION:
What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: If a woman’s menstrual cycle starts during the month of Ramadān, then what can they do in order to attain more reward?
Questioner: Maryam from UK
ANSWER:
بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
If a woman’s menstrual cycle begins in Ramadān, then during her times of worship [e.g. the 5 daily salāh times, etc], she should sit & recite Durūd Sharīf[1], Kalimah[2], perform Istighfār[3], and pray for the attainment of Paradise & seek refuge from Hell. This is indeed the greatest Wazhīfah and a means of earning a great deal of reward because this Wazhīfah was granted by the Noble Prophet ﷺ, just as it has been mentioned in Hadīth to perform four acts in abundance in the month of Ramadān; Kalimah Sharīf, Istighfār, ask for the attainment of Paradise & seek refuge from the Hellfire.
