What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: is it necessary for me to make up those fasts which were missed due to menstrual and post natal bleeding or will it be sufficient to pay fidyah?

Absolutely! It is necessary for you to make up those fasts, and it is not permissible to pay fidyah in lieu of them. The ruling of paying fidyah is for the extremely old person (shaykh faani), and not for the woman experiencing menstruation or post natal bleeding; it is necessary for such a woman to make up her fasts; just as it is stated in Sahih Muslim, as reported by Sayyidah ‘Aishah (Allah be well pleased with her), she stated:
كَانَ يُصِيبُنَا ذَلِكَ، فَنُؤْمَرُ بِقَضَاءِ الصَّوْمِ، وَلَا نُؤْمَرُ بِقَضَاءِ الصَّلَاةِ
‘When we would experience menstruation then we were commanded to make up the fasts but we were not commanded to make up the prayers.’
