What do the scholars of the Din and muftis of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: We are moving into a house, so which litanies should we recite so that our house is protected from devils, jinns and other calamities?

Questioner: A sister from Birmingham, UK

You should go to the new house and read Surah Baqarah and read Ayatul Kursi, both of these should be read by someone who has correct Qirat or knows Tajweed. Because wherever Surah Baqarah is read, devils and evil jinns flee from that place.

As is in the Hadith Mubarak;

It is narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble prophet (ﷺ) (Allah bless him and grant him peace) stated;

Do not make your homes a graveyard; without doubt the devil flees from that house in which Surah Baqarah is recited.

By reading Ayatul Kursi, not only will your house remain protected, rather the surrounding houses, all will be protected from robbery and all types of catastrophes and calamities.

As Hazrat Ali (کرم اللہ تعالی وجہہ الکریم) stated that I heard from the noble prophet (ﷺ) (Allah bless him and grant him peace), they were stating on the pulpit that;

Whoever reads Ayatul Kursi after every Salah, except for death nothing will prevent him from entering Jannah, and whoever reads this whilst lying down, Allah will keep him protected in his house and his neighbors house will remain protected and all surrounding houses to his will be protected.

In the book Jannati Zewar, Allama Abdul Mustafa Azmi (علیہ الرحمۃ) stated; in the whole house at a high place, if Ayatul Kursi is written and the written Ayatul Kursi is displayed, then inshaAllah (تعالی) in this house there will never be destitution. Rather there will be blessings and increase in sustenance, and a thief will never be able to enter this house.
