QUESTION:
What steps can I take to stop masturbating? I cannot afford to get married yet.
ANSWER:
A person should reflect on the severity of this sin as described in the Hadith:
“The curse of Allah is upon the one who has intercourse with his own hand.”
Does a person want to be flung far from the mercy of Allah? A person should remove himself from everything that leads him to this vile act and reflect on the horrific consequences associated with it in this world and the aakhirah (hereafter). Such a person should learn to lower his gaze and fast to reduce his desire.
From the many evil medical affects of this act is that a person may suffer severe premature ejaculation such that when he finally marries he is unable to have a satisfying relationship with his wife leading to misery or divorce or he may become completely impotent. Some Ulama have enumerated over 25 worldly health problems resulting from this filthy act.
[refer to Dawate Islami’s publication ‘Jannat ki do chaabiyan’]
Such a person should also try and make arrangements to prepare for the pre-requisites of marriage so that he safeguards himself from this grave sin and its punishment in the aakhirah.
Allah knows best.
