QUESTION:

Currently, I’m a Muslimah studying Nursing at University. Whilst on placement (training) at hospital, I’m caring for both male and female patients. Many elderly patients are unable to look after themselves, thus they require bed bathing, and full hygiene care. Is it lawful for myself (being a female), to look after a male? Examine male patients? Etc

ANSWER:

A female is not permitted to touch a ghayr mahram man, which is inevitable in washing and examining. The questioner should avoid contact with male patients while training as a nurse.

Allah knows best.
