What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: Is it permissible to wear eyelash extensions? They are made of silk, and sometimes they are also made of human hair.

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
It is permissible for women to wear eyelashes made of silk, however eyelash extensions made of human hair are not permitted, because to benefit from & use a part of human – alive or deceased – is impermissible, and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ has cursed such women who join hair. It is mentioned in the renowned book of Hanafī Fiqh – al-Hidāyah – that,
“وَلَا يَجُوزُ بَيْعُ شُعُورِ الْإِنْسَانِ وَلَا الِانْتِفَاعُ بِهَا) لِأَنَّ الْآدَمِيَّ مُكَرَّمٌ لَا مُبْتَذَلٌ فَلَا يَجُوزُ أَنْ يَكُونَ شَيْءٌ مِنْ أَجْزَائِهِمُهَانًا وَمُبْتَذَلًا وَقَدْ قَالَ: عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ «لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاصِلَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَة» الْحَدِيثُ، وَإِنَّمَا يُرَخَّصُ فِيمَا يُتَّخَذُ مِنْ الْوَبَرِ)”
“Selling human hair and benefiting from it in any way, shape or form (meaning to use it for a particular purpose) is not permissible, because human beings, alongside all of their body parts, are deserving of respect, not disrespect. Thus, it is impermissible to disgrace, degrade or demean any part of a human, and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ has cursed such women who join their hair, and also those who do this for others. However, there is a concession with regards to animal hair, fur, etc.”

It is also stated in Bahār-e-Sharī’at that it is harām for a female to attach extensions from human hair to her own hair; such women have been cursed in Hadith. Actually, even a woman who joins hair to the hair of another woman is also cursed in the Hadith, and if the hair that is being joined to her plait is from her own hair, then too, it is regarded as impermissible. However, if she makes an extension for her hair (i.e. if she makes tassels for plaiting the hair) from wool or black threads, then there is no prohibition in this.
