[Q-ID0284] A wife, a son and 5 daughters: how much does each inherit from their deceased father?

QUESTION:

If a man passes away leaving only the following inheritors to his wealth:

1 wife
1 son
5 daughters

How much will each of them get from that wealth, property, and land which is left behind as the right of the inheritors?

ANSWER:

According to the scenario mentioned in the question if a man passed away leaving no other inheritors except:

1 wife
1 son
5 daughters

then the following will be their shares from that wealth which is left behind as the right of the inheritors:

The wife will receive one eight due to the presence of offspring.

1/8th wife

The son and daughters will share that which remains after the one eight of the mother in the ratio 2:1. That is the son will receive 2 shares for every one share received by a daughter. So in this scenario the remaining seven eighths will be divided so that each daughter will receive one eight whilst the son will receive two eights which is a quarter.

2/8th = 1/4th son
