الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
According to Hanafīs, it is prohibited to pray nafl salāh from sunset until the fard of Maghrib, but one is allowed to pray 2 short rak’ats.
Just like ‘Allāmah Muhammad Bin ‘Alī Haskafī رحمه الله wrote in al-Durr al-Mukhtār stating that,
وَ حَرَّرَ إبَاحَةَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيْفَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْمَغْرِبِ
‘Allāmah Ibn Humām has wrote regarding the permissibility of 2 short rak’ats before the fard of Maghrib.
[‘al-Durr al-Mukhtār’, Kitāb al-Salāh, Vol. 2, Pg. 14. ‘Fath al-Qadeer’, Kitāb al-Salāh, Bāb al-Nawāfil, Vol. 1, Pg. 389]
Muftī Amjad ‘Alī A’zamī explaining the 12 prohibited times for nafl salāh states that, ‘From the time of sunset, right up to the fard of Maghrib. However, Imām Ibn al-Humām made an exception for 2 very short rak’ats.’
