QUESTION:

Does the wet bloodless substance from the vagina of a woman break wudu or not? If this substance touches a cloth then does it become impure?

ANSWER:

The bloodless substance that exits from the vagina of a woman does not break wudu and therefore if it touches a cloth it does not become impure. This is mentioned in Bahar-e-Shariat part 2 pg. 12.

If this refers to the outside of the vagina then that is clean according to all scholars.

أما رطوبة الفرج الخارج فطاهرة اتفاقاً و في منهاج الإمام النووي رطوبة الفرج ليست بنجسة في الأصح

[Radd-ul-Mukhtar vol 1 pg 229]

However if this refers to the substance on the inside of the vagina then according to Sahibain it is impure and will break wudu but according to Imam Abu Hanifa (رحمهم الله) it is pure, like sweat and water from the nose, these do not break wudu and neither do they make clothes impure.

“أما عنده فهي طاهرة کسائر رطوبات البدن، جوهرة”

[Durr-e-Mukhtar vol 1 p. 229]

The same rule also applies to the wet substance exiting from the womb of a woman, this wetness is a white watery substance somewhere between sweat and mazi, and exits from the inside of the vagina:

هي ماء أبيض متردد بين المذي والعرق يخرج من باطن الفرج الذي لا يجب غسله بخلاف ما يخرج مما يجب غسله فإنه طاهر قطعا و من وراء باطن الفرج فإنه نجس قطعا

[Radd-ul-Mukhtar vol 1 pg 229]

This issue is also mentioned in Jadd-ul-Mumtaar.

Anyhow it is safer to perform wudu. If this substance exits the body constantly then the woman is like an excused (ma’zoor), meaning it is better (aulaa) for her to perform wudu at the beginning of every namaz time.

Allah ta’aala is Most Knowing.
