QUESTION:

I would like to know the correct method of performing tayyammum.

ANSWER:

The Method of Tayammum (dry ablution) is as follows:

After making the intention of Tayammum, recite Bismillāh and strike both hands on to the ground/stone etc. If a lot of soil/dust gets stuck on the hands then remove the excess by striking the sides of hands together. Then with these hands wipe over the whole face. Repeat the action again and wipe over both arms from the fingernails to and including the elbows.

Note: The wiping of the head and feet are not performed in Tayammum.

There are only three aspects which are obligatory in Tayammum:
1. To make the intention.
2. To wipe your hands all over the face so that no hair or skin is left out.
3. To wipe your hands over both the arms including the elbows.
