QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Din and muftis of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: am I allowed to ask for my height to be increased or could you tell me an invocation that I could recite for this?

Questioner: A sister from Nottingham (England)

ANSWER:

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

Those duas which are impossible or close to impossible should not be asked for, hence the dua of a person whose height is tall wanting a shorter height or one who has large eyes wanting smaller eyes, these types of duas are (ممنوع) prohibited because these are such matters of a dua which have been already decreed/written by the Blessed Pen.

As the Beloved Father of A’la Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan, Hazrat Allaamah Naqi’ Ali Khan  رحمه الله  has noted in their renowned book Ahsan ul Wiaa’ Li Aadaabid Duaa in the Chapter of Haftam:

“Those duas which one should not ask for ” within this they mention regarding changing those matters in a dua which have been already decreed/written by the Blessed Pen,

As an example, a tall person supplicates: “May my height decrease” or a person with small eyes prays: “May my eyes enlarge.”
