QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: I performed Ghusl a few days ago, but I forgot to pour water into the nose and belly button. Will I have to do Ghusl again, and will I have to reread my Salāhs which I have already prayed?

Questioner: Zahid from UK

ANSWER:

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

It is Fard to pour water into the nose and over the entire body in Fard Ghusl, thus it was essential to pour water into the nose and belly button – which was left out due to forgetfulness – without which Fard Ghusl is not fulfilled, and the Salāhs prayed with this Ghusl have not been fulfilled either. Although, it is not essential to perform Ghusl in full, rather only to pour water over those parts which were left out; Ghusl will then be fulfilled.

Just as it is stated in Bahār-e-Sharī’at that (if one did not wash the head due to a certain problem/illness, then) once one recovers, one should wash the head; there is no need to repeat the entire Ghusl.
