QUESTION:

I have a pretty peculiar query. 1) When I go to the washroom to pass stool, sometimes while applying pressure, some sticky fluid comes out from the penis. In this case, do we have to do ghusl?

2) Secondly, while doing ghusl, if we are taking a bath via a shower and some drops of water get sprinkled on my clothes that are hung nearby, do those clothes become impure too? I’m from the Hanafi madhab.

ANSWER:

Even if this liquid fulfils the description of Mani (semen):
in appearance: “A thick white liquid” and in smell: “resembling the smell of date-palm pollen”

[Maraqi al-Falah, pg 42]

it will not necessitate ghusl because:

“If lust is not present there is no ghusl, like if one lifted a heavy object or was struck upon his loins and his semen exited.” [ibid]

Please refer to Q-ID0055 for further clarification of when the exiting of Mani necessitates ghusl. As long as these droplets are not contaminated by najasah that was present on the body then those clothes will not become impure.

One should bear in mind that:

“It is Sunnah to wash away any najasah (filth) on the body parts in isolation at the outset, so that one’s heart is at rest with its removal before it spreads over the rest of one’s body.”

[Hashiyah al-Tahtawi alal Maraqi pg 104]

If this Sunnah of ghusl is established it will prevent the mentioned scenario. It is incumbent on a person that he strives to learn the details of the obligatory matters that concern him.

Allah knows best.
