QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: Is it permissible to wear a hat with a Motif of the Blessed Sandal? Can Sālah be offered by wearing it? Such hats are common in the U.K.

Questioner: Ahmed from Leicester, UK

ANSWER:

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

There is no problem in wearing a hat with a Motif of the Blessed Sandal. Offering Salāh by wearing it is also permissible. However, if someone who is wearing it prays in congregation, during prostration, the feet of the person praying in front of him are in line with the motif of the Blessed Sandal. Sometimes, the feet of the person in front also touch the Blessed Motif; I have witnessed this myself. In such a situation one must refrain from wearing it.
