الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
Using a nebuliser will cause a fast to become invalid because a particular type of medicine is used in this, which goes into the lungs alongside with some oxygen, and opens them up. It is an indisputable rule of Hanafī Fiqh that whenever any medicine or nourishment reaches the stomach via any route/passage, then this will cause one’s fast to become invalid. Just as ‘Allāmah Shāmī writes in reference to Nahr,
“ذَكَرَهُ الْمُحَقِّقُونَ أَنَّ مَعْنَى الْفِطْرِ وُصُولُ مَا فِيهِ صَلَاحُ الْبَدَنِ إلَى الْجَوْفِ أَعَمُّ مِنْ كَوْنِهِ غِذَاءً أَوْ دَوَاءً”
“The research scholars have mentioned the meaning of a fast becoming invalid is anything that keeps the body in a proper condition entering into the stomach [via a route/passage], and this is general – be it nourishment or medicine.”
