QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Dīn and muftīs of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: Can we give money to beggars in the alleyways and streets?

Questioner: Brother from UK

ANSWER:

If the people begging are deserving of it, then there is no problem in giving, however it is prohibited to beg for a living, because this is inciting sin, and Allāh Almighty has prohibited this.

Just as Allāh Almighty states in the Holy Qur’ān,

{and do not help one another in sin and injustice}
